Dalmatians - Adopting Rescued Dogs

Dalmatians are strong dogs that need daily exercise. They will do well in an apartment on the condition the owner supplies them with a few walks a day.

Some Dalmatian owners claim that it tends to be mischievous and hyperactive. In fact, the Dalmatian will rarely try your patience, provided it is trained properly.

The breed is famous for its affectionate relationships with children. It is not a surprise, for both just love to play around and run about the yard. Before adopting a Dalmatian one should make sure that children are taught to properly handle the dog.

Actually, breed education is obligatory for anyone wanting to keep a dog, since every dog has its own peculiarities. Dalmatians are no exception to the rule. It is advised to carefully study the Dalmatian's personality qualities, and needs.

A question concerning adoption of Dalmatians experiencing hearing difficulties is rather dual. On the one hand, deaf Dalmatians have no problems with mental powers, thus being able to learn basic canine skills. On the other hand, dealing with a deaf dog is not an easy task.

As a rule, an owner of such a Dalmatian communicates with the pet by means of signals. It is evident, that at the moment when the dog is not watching the owner, it is unable to follow commands. Sounds of danger, such as screaming of brakes, will not help the dog to keep out of trouble, like in case with a healthy animal. Hence, an owner of a deaf Dalmatian should constantly keep an eye on the dog.

Dalmatians are also prone to urinary stones. This condition can be rather dangerous for a dog, resulting in death sometimes. A good point is that it can be prevented by means of a balanced diet with a low protein level. Commercially prepared foods would be a much healthier diet, rather than meats in excessive amount.

On the whole, Dalmatians are easy to watch over. They are not demanding in terms of feeding, and coat care. Anyone, who considers adopting a dog, can contact local welfare organizations and rescues for information on available Dalmatians.

Dalmatians Breeders - Dalmatians are old dogs whose appearance did not change greatly over a great period of time. It is definite that the breed was known in many countries and used to perform various functions. Nowadays, nobody can say for sure what the exact origin of the Dalmatian is. Many countries attempted to prove being privy to the dog's development. However, the official version speaks in favor of Dalmatia, a part of Croatia.

There are a few speculations concerning the breed's name. Many dog fanciers admit that it were British breeders who popularized its present day name. A huge relief found in Dalmatia, and depicting a similar dog, probably gave the impetus to the breed's name. Still, it can be that Dalmatian ancestors were firstly used in Dalmatia to guard their border from Turkish armies. The fact that these dogs were widely spread in Dalmatia is prompted by evidence that a huge kennel breeding about 500 Dalmatians was situated in this region.

Dalmatians Pictures - Dalmatians are dogs close in their physical characteristics to pointing dogs. They are muscular, with a deep chest and well-sprung ribs. The skull is square with a long muzzle. Round eyes are dark. The tail should never curve over back, or be carried between hind legs.

According to the standard the Dalmatian's height should be about 19-24 inches. In the UK the Dalmatian is generally larger. As for weight, it ranges from 40 to 70 pounds. Individual dogs may weigh as much as 90 pounds.

Dalmatians Puppies - Dalmatians are very popular dogs. This popularity was fueled by the famous movie and happened to be crucial for the breed. Besides love and affection, it created many misconceptions concerning the Dalmatian's personality.

Though the Dalmatian is an intelligent, friendly dog, it can be hard to train. It needs a firm hand but cannot bear harsh training methods. It is also not always good with strangers. The Dalmatian appears to be suspicious and makes a good watchdog.

Dalmatians - Dalmatians are medium-sized, well-muscled and short-coated dogs. Dalmatians are active and energetic, and built well for long distance endurance and

stamina. They are people oriented dogs; they love spending plenty of time around their families.
